I am so excited to start this knitting. My daughter from Bluebell yarns gifted me one of her advent calendars for Christmas. I chose the dark nights themed one, in Blue Face Leicester 4 ply wool. I thought the ideal shawl to knit would be painting bricks by Stephen West. Not that I really need another shawl, but as Stephen says you can never have too many! I plan to do a colour a day, using the mini skein for that day, therefore the colour choice is decided for me. I expect that as it gets larger and nearer to Christmas that might be a difficult task, but we shall see. I will upload the progress daily, so keep checking back to see this exciting project.

Day Two 02.12.2025
Why as a grown woman am I getting so excited about opening the little parcels of wool? It’s great! Well here is today’s colour. A gorgeous rich raspberry pink.

Day Three 03.12.2025
Day Four. 04.12.2025
The formation of the shawl is showing nicely now.

Day Five. 05.12.2025
I’m still very happy with the way these colours are knitting up. Opened the pack first thing this morning, but had things to do. Mainly get a geocache to fill in a gap in my calendar and write some Christmas cards.
Day Six 06.12.2025
I had to resist knitting this up straight away as I had to go out for a geocache again today and dodge the showers. Mission accomplished and knitting done!

Day Seven 07.12.2025
Lovely shades of grey today.

Day Eight 08.12.2025

Day Nine 09.12.2025
Shades of lovely golds and yellows today. Looks great after the purple of yesterday. Really makes the colours pop. Looks just like the lights of a city.

Day Ten 10.12.2025
Today’s colour is a lovely green. Silly me thought I would leave some rows to do this evening, then realised I wouldn’t be able to take a photo in daylight. I ended up taking it just as the sun was going down, but I think it came out okay.
